Mark Oh Polo!

You might be familiar with Polo.  A bizarre game where a bunch of posh folks ride around on horses. These Polo Pony prancers hit a wooden or white plastic ball with some kinda' weird mallet.  Apparently, you're supposed to hit said ball with said mallet into, ideally, the opposition's goal. What the Chukka, I say.  I've read that a Chukka is a period of play in Polo.
You might be familiar with Water Polo.  A bizarre game where a bunch of wet folks try to throw a ball into a goal.  The players chase around a rubber or a nylon ball.  The balls get bigger in size as you get older.  The balls start at size one all the way up to size five for adult men who like to play with the biggest balls while frolicking in the water.
What you might not realise is that in Water Polo the players are riding around on Seahorses.

Polo
Oh no
What the Chukka
Who gives a Fukka
Water Polo
Big balls, hello!
Riding on a Seahorse
Underwater intercourse
Polo is a car
Not a car by Jaguar
Polo is a mint
Strong enough to make you squint
Polo is a shirt
Goes rather well with my skirt
Polo is an aftershave
Splash some on before I rave.

Nice to know you like to hang around playing games with a Venetian merchant traveller who have come here all the way from Venus :)

Although a tongue-in-cheek posting, I hate any form of alleged sport that involves horses, underwater or on the land. Thanks for a serious comment on my post.

  4. Hi Gary - great take on polo words ... I now need a polo mint ... but have never played polo, or water polo ... but the need for a chukka might be on order - have a good weekend. Those seahorses are very pretty ... cheers Hilary

  7. I wonder how many sea horses have been whacked with a ball? Because you know those poor horses get hit with the mallets now and then.

    1. Hi Alex,

Hopefully, when the seahorses get whacked off, um, when the seahorses get whacked with a ball it just bounces harmlessly off them. As for the above ground Polo, I think it's indeed a rather cruel sport.

Wishing you a most excellent remainder of the weekend.

  12. We played water polo in high school gym class. I wasn't very good at it. As for Marco Polo, when we'd get up a game of that in my aunt's pool, she had about a 5 minute tolerance for it before yelling out the window to shut the hell up. lol
